With the closing of our retail garden centre in fall of 2020, plant material sold after July 15, 2020 will no longer carry a warranty.
Plants sold online for spring delivery are guaranteed to be healthy and true to species at the time of delivery. No other warranties are expressed or implied.
Richmond Nursery guarantees all hardy trees and shrubs for one year from the date of purchase. Marginally hardy plants and some trial plants including, but not limited to, Magnolias, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Pieris, Erica, Japanese Maples, Holly, Mahonia, Roses, Clethra, and Stephandrea are warranted until October 15th of the current year. All fall warranty stock is clearly labelled at the nursery and your bill of sale will also reflect fall warranty items. Fall warranty items purchased after October 15th carry no warranty. If you have any questions about hardiness, please ask.
- Your nursery stock is guaranteed once for the original purchase price.
- We do not offer a guarantee on annuals, perennials, tropicals, or water plants.
- Delivery and installation costs are covered under warranty for the first year only.
What our Warranty Does Not Cover
Our warranty does not cover rodent damage, physical damage to the plant (natural or man-made), aesthetic imperfections, or neglect. We also do not cover minor die-back plants may experience due to acclimatization. Call us if your plant experiences die-back and we will be happy to assist you.
Plants are living things and should be treated with care. Please do not neglect your plant in situations of natural stress such as drought or insects.
What to do if Your Plant Dies
Should your tree or shrub fail to grow, please return the plant with your receipt to Richmond Nursery before the guarantee has expired. We cannot honour the guarantee without your receipt or the plant. We will issue a credit note for the total amount paid. We do not provide cash refunds. Your credit note is valid for one year on all merchandise.
If there is any question regarding viability of plant material, we ask that you please contact the nursery before removing the plant from the ground. We will be happy to help you and to ensure that you have a healthy plant for years to come. If you are worried about your plant early in the spring before May 15th and your warranty expires before the end of May, please call us. Warranty extensions are available in the early spring so your plant has a chance to leaf out before your warranty expires.
