Post Fertilizing flower/perennial beds
Under "Green Gardening Tips - Fertilizing and Top Dressing" it mentions : Be it synthetic or organic, keep the doses low. Too much fertilizer can damage things. I always use half the rate listed on the package, but fertilize more often.
Question> What products/fertilizers do you suggest & how often is "more often".

I usually say a quarter to half dose, twice as often. They call that "continuous feeding" and it's less stressful to the plant. It's more like eating a vitamin every day rather than a big binge.

I like the Plant Prod water soluble fertilizers myself. It's a good fertilizer that's been around for a long time and you're not paying the big marketing dollars as some other ones. Good old 20-20-20 if you're fertilizer lots of different things, or pick a special blend if you're targeting something very specific (like orchids). The "wrong" fertilizer is still a fertilizer and usually won't hurt too much when using low doses. Just remember to use less fertilizer the less the plant is growing or else it's just a waste.
